PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WATE) — While many people make it their family tradition to visit Pigeon Forge each year, nearly every time you visit, you can find something new and exciting.
If you want to take a trip down memory lane, Scooby Doo! Mystery Putt may be the place for you.
“I liked Scooby Doo a lot growing up as a kid, especially the old one, and this is based on the old cartoon, so I wanted to check it out,” said Jake McCord.
McCord, along with Michaela Bowman, said they have grown up taking trips to the area. Visiting from Cincinnati, they welcome both the old and the new.
“I like coming back here because it does bring back those memories, like when you were a kid and like seeing the original stuff, like when you go into Gatlinburg, especially, but seeing the new stuff is also kind of cool, but I like the mix of both,” said Bowman.
With 36 holes and a new course called “Coolsville Mine,” which opened in May, people from across the country are coming to play a round at Scooby Doo! Mystery Putt.
Just down the road from that, an old attraction is getting new life. What was a Top Jump Attraction is now becoming Slick City Action Park.
“It’s going to be Pigeon Forge’s first indoor slide park and aircourt park,” said Top Concept’s Vice President of Marketing, Marcus Watson. “If you’re looking for thrills and a whole new experience, Slick City is going to have all that for you.”
With 20 indoor slides, it’s described as a “waterless” water park. Creating 75 to 80 more jobs in the area, the place is expected to be a hit.
“It’s a whole new entertainment concept for Pigeon Forge. You know, all the time people are talking about new things that they have coming to the area, but this is truly a new experience that guests who have been visiting here year after year haven’t experienced before,” said Watson.
Other attractions are also making new additions, like the Titanic Museum’s new dinner show.
“We’re very excited, the museum has been open for 16 years, and during those years we have told the stories of the 2,208 passengers and crew among us. But we want to add a little bit more to it. We want to show you what dining was like on the Titanic,” said First Class Maid Jodi Justus.
With the addition of some of the original menus from the Titanic in the museum, including its first and last meal, a first-class dinner, a show was recently unveiled. It provides a new look back at what it was like to be aboard the RMS Titanic in 1912.
“As you go through your meal, the actors will be portraying different passengers and crew members. At first, you have to remember they don’t know the Titanic sinking, so of course, they’re interacting with each other and having a great time. Then it goes to the iceberg, hitting and then escaping, and then you’ll find out at the end who survives and who perishes,” said Justus.
She said the Titanic dining experience will be available to guests Tuesday through Saturday, with one show a day, for now.
Slick City Action Park is set to open on June 27, and Scooby Doo! Mystery Putt is open every day of the week.
